I just saw all the posts I’d missed. I didn’t check the box to email me with replies! Darn it. Yes, I’d love to meet so please send me the deets and what I should prepare.

    Joe,
For some reason my response posted to your other pub news below. 🙂 Anyway, congrats!

    Nikita,
This is something I can really use. I’m not doing NaNo, but I’m happy to have someone help me stay on track with a writing piece. A once-a-month Zoom would work for me, with an email check-in between Zooms.
    I need this. 🙂

Way to go, Joe!I’m glad you found it validating as to what we learned in the program too.

    Nikita,
Thanks. I’m only in week four, even though I started about seven weeks ago, but I’m still going and that is progress.
I have a couple of chapters of a middle grade novel with young girls and horses. The main character and her cousin live in different horse worlds, one western and one English. They have to figure out how to respect each others’ worlds, in order to keep the closeness they had when they were little girls.

A little update on my writing life. I’ve been taking a cue from Nikita and have begun week four of The Artist’s Way. While I may not be working on story, I am writing daily and that is an improvement. I appreciate the spiritual nature of the book very much, and I use the chapters for my daily “morning” pages often written in the afternoons. I feel good about this. This week I actually began revision on a middle grade novel I started some time ago. Progress is tiny, but it is progress.

    Hi Joe!
I love your poem. I like the way in circles through thought to kind of land us upside-down. I checked out the viator example and loved it too. I don’t know if I’ll post one, but I’m going to try to write one. You have a good weekend!

    Nikita,
It sounds wonderful. Spain is a beautiful country and I’m sure you’ll share your adventures with us!

    Nikita,
I did read it. I am intrigued because I cannot decide if this is just the terrible grief we have when someone we love dies and we grasp at straws (strawberries?) desperately trying not to let go, or, if Lina just ended the relationship and she is in denial. Either way, it is compelling.

As far as simultaneous submissions, I get that it has to be okay, but how do you keep track of it?

    Nikita,
I know I can always count on you for complete response! Thank you for sharing all of this as I believe it is all about our wholeness. You inspire me. I’m going to order the book today because I really need some kind of epiphany.
    Spain????

    Nikita,
Congratulations on submitting! It can feel like a knife edge. I’m still waiting to hear back on my novella, and wondering about simultaneous submissions and how that works. I’ll be reading “Such a Peach,” and thank you for sharing it. I don’t recall reading in class, but we may not have been in the same group on this one.

    Nikita,
I need to get off my metaphorical duff and get that book and do it. I have it on audio book, but it isn’t the same as the hard copy staring at me on my desk. How has it changed your life?

    Nikita,
I’m not sure why I haven’t been getting notices of replies, but there you go. As far as Leguin, Tales from Earthsea, Gifts, and The Telling. I haven’t read anything of hers that I didn’t love and that didn’t make me think.
Nineteen Minutes was striking as far as the perspective of the shooter and the families. Troublesome Creek I am loving for the regionalism and the lore-being a librarian by horseback is something I could see myself doing. 🙂 The Starless Sea I’ve set aside because of Creek, but I can’t wait to get back to it.
    How’s that for a non-answer?

    Joe,
Use the little LINK button and it will work. Thanks for your encouragement as well. I mean, I know what I need to do. But knowing and doing seem far apart for me right now. I seem to plot against myself. 🙂
