ParticipantOh, and thanks, y’all! I’m very excited to be out of my 20s finally; everyone says your 30s are a million times better, and I believe it!
nikita
ParticipantGreat! Let’s do this Friday. Does 10 PST/11 MST work for y’all? I’ll message Kirk too and see what he says.

ParticipantLet’s all meet again!
Hey, Sally and Joe – I felt like our time on Zoom was so nourishing and helpful; I’d love to do it again sometime soon, and get anyone else involved (like Kirk!). Let me know what times/dates work for y’all, and I’ll make something work. Any day coming up except for the 28th would be great. It’s my birthday that day and I’m turning 30(!).

ParticipantThanks, Kirk! I’d love to catch up sometime and hear about your writing 🙂

ParticipantWow, thanks, Joe! That’s great news! It’s really exciting to have another one (finally) out.
nikita
ParticipantYes, it is! It’s so gratifying 🙂

ParticipantFriends!
My short story “Such a Peach” got published finally! It was accepted a few months ago by Typehouse Literary Magazine and is finally live. I’m so excited – it’s a treat to have another “yes” under my belt; here’s to several more this year.
You can read it as a free PDF here (I’m on page 8!)/buy a physical copy if you’re into that sort of thing.
So exciting! All the good news is happening!

ParticipantI absolutely love the idea of a thread specifically for feedback! I’m a little tapped this week (I’ve been working the past few months as a judge for NYC Midnight), but a big batch of stories wraps up next week and I’ll be free to pour my heart into some January feedback. A set place for us to ask for each other’s thoughts would be really helpful, I think. :))

ParticipantHey, the point of goals is to bring awareness to our actions, right? And as long as you’re working towards submissions, you’re doing great 🙂 Even if it’s just thinking about where to submit to.

ParticipantEven though they don’t open for a few months, getting an answer from some places takes that long anyway, so it’s always good to have it in the back pocket!

ParticipantJoe, I just saw this! I’ll be sure to post it in here once it gets published :). Should be the beginning of next month!

ParticipantThat’s a beautiful rejection! I particularly love the way they called it “poignant and bittersweet,” and also gave you props for the sestina form. :). That means the right home for your poem is just around the corner!
nikita
ParticipantHey, Sally! I just sent it 🙂
nikita
ParticipantGreat! And that would break up those 40 minute time barriers, anyway. I think that is going to be perfect. I’ll email you on Friday morning with the link!

ParticipantI find this kind of exciting! The idea that, out there, the more friends you make, the more readily your future might unfold is thrilling. It is something that gives folks an upper hand systemically, but it also means that the path to success is more than random luck. It’s building a web of social capital to help you and others grow together.
After reading this last night, I went and texted my filmmaker bestie and we agreed to reach out and foster one existing artist connection today! -
